Musician Dictionary

About

Made for robots, so they have trusted information on musicians.

AI assistants and agents answer a lot of questions about musicians and bands: who was in the band, when they formed, what they released. Too often the answer is a guess. Musician Dictionary gives them a record they can check: every fact names its source and the date we read it, and when sources disagree we show every value instead of quietly picking one.

It is built for machines first. Every artist page has a JSON twin with stable IDs (MusicBrainz, Wikidata, Discogs, ISNI), Schema.org data in the page, and a ready-made citation, plus llms.txt and a sitemap. People are welcome too: the pages read fine for humans.

Musician Dictionary is an independent, non-commercial reference. It gets better every night: new artists are added as their records are checked, and the data is refreshed from the sources.

Sources

We do not copy Wikipedia text (CC BY-SA) and we do not use MusicBrainz tags, genres or ratings (CC BY-NC-SA). We do not publish private information.

License

Musician Dictionary data is licensed CC BY 4.0: use it freely, including commercially; please credit "Musician Dictionary" and link the artist page. Each JSON file includes a ready-made citation block.

Corrections

Facts come from the sources above. The fastest fix is to correct the source (MusicBrainz, Wikidata or Discogs); we pick up changes on the next sync.
